Raysonic at SSI 2010 Montreal, Canada High End Audio Show from www.EnjoyTheMusic.com Show Report By Rick Becker
I exchanged my annual nod with Raysonic and listened to some very transparent and crisp music. The new Raysonic CD168 vacuum tube CD player ($2800) converts 24-bit/192kHz with Burr-Brown chips but was on silent display, deferring to their CD228 ($4600) in the active system. Like most of their CD players, it features both single ended and balanced outputs. Their large Tube Monoblock Reference 23 with eight KT88 tubes each (100 wpc, triode push-pull) were driving B&W 802 with diamond tweeters to very good effect. The Raysonic room is consistently so good year after year that I sometimes forget to mention that it is among the Best Rooms at the show.

Raysonic at SSI 2010 Montreal, Canada High End Audio Show from www.SoundStageNetwork.com Show Report By Doug Schneider
Raysonic's head office is in Toronto, Canada, but they make their products in China to keep the prices low. But whereas other companies completely outsource manufacturing, Raysonic's owner, Steve Leung, says he also owns the company that manufactures Raysonic in China, giving them far better control over product development and quality. In Montreal, Raysonic showed two products that hit the market in late 2009. Above is the all-tube SP-200 stereo integrated amplifier, which is priced at $2990. Raysonic says it can output 100Wpc into 8 ohms.

Raysonic also showed their massive Reference 23 monoblock amplifier, their most expensive amp, which is priced at $9990/pair. The Reference 23 uses eight KT88 output tubes in a triode configuration to produce 100W into 8 ohms. Each Reference 23 weighs about 75 pounds and features metal work that looks exceptional.

Raysonic - Award Winner of CES 2010 Best of Show

The Raysonic brand name has broken out of the pack among China-manufactured audio products, perhaps because its owners have a foothold in North America because they reside in Canada. The new Reference 23 ($9990/pair) is more powerful and physically bulkier than other Raysonic amps. It uses eight KT88s to produce 100 watts. We're not fond of the prominent tube protector, but we understand why its use is necessary at an audio show.

A pair of Reference 23s drove Acoustic Zen Crescendo speakers ($14,000/pair). Other Raysonic products in use were the C200 preamp ($2890) and CD228 CD player ($4200). All cabling was from Acoustic Zen.
What impressed us most about this system was its delicacy and hint of sweetness amidst a very spacious soundstage. Other Raysonic amps have sounded immediate to the point of forwardness, but the Reference 23s seems to have harnessed the immediacy without putting the soundstage in your lap. We're very intrigued by the CD228, a tubed, fully balanced two-chassis CD player. Look for a TAB review of it sometime in 2010.

Raysonic at CES 2010 From Stereophile Magazine Show Report By Jon Iverson
Some disc players simply look better than others when the lights go out. The Raysonic CD168 Tube CD-Player is one such machine and retails for $2,550. The CD168 uses 4 Russian 6922EH tubes and upconverts your CDs to 24 bit/192kHz to either balanced or unbalanced outputs.
First time Venetian exhibitor Raysonic also had an extensive line of Tube components on hand including their brand new two-box $4,200 CD228 Tube CD-Player.
